Cape Kaliakra, also known as the easternmost point of Bulgaria, is located in the northern part of the Black Sea – where the shores become steep and rocky, sculpted by the constantly raging waves of the sea. Kaliakra is located between the villages of Bulgarevo and Sveti Nikola and is part of the municipality of Kavarna. The area is a natural and cultural reserve, in which there are the remains of an ancient fortress, a lighthouse and a station, a chapel, a museum and a restaurant located in the rocks themselves. The site is home to over 400 plants and 310 species of birds, 100 of which are protected species.
